Let’s be real. Moms deserve breaks. Not just quick coffee runs or rushed solo grocery trips, but real breaks where you can breathe, relax, and remember what it feels like to put yourself first. That’s exactly why a momcation is more than just a trip — it’s self-care in its best form.

After visiting these beautiful destinations myself, I can confidently say they are perfect for a solo momcation or a getaway with your mom friends. Whether you love sandy beaches, charming old towns, or cities filled with culture, these places tick all the boxes. And the best part? Even in winter, they still have their charm.

Alicante

If you want sun, sea, and the chance to completely unwind, Alicante is your place. You can spend your days walking along the Explanada de España, enjoying fresh seafood by the harbour, or treating yourself to a spa day with views of the Mediterranean. It is the kind of place where you can relax without feeling guilty for doing absolutely nothing.

Seville

There is something about Seville that instantly makes you slow down and soak in every moment. Between its stunning architecture, flamenco vibes, and cozy tapas spots, you could spend days wandering, eating, and simply enjoying being away from home.

San Sebastian

If food is your love language, San Sebastian is a dream come true. The pintxos bars alone are worth the trip, but there is more to love — like beautiful beaches, coastal views, and those small quiet moments when you realise you are exactly where you need to be.

Madrid

Sometimes, a city escape is all you need and Madrid delivers. From rooftop brunches to cultural walks through vibrant neighbourhoods like Malasaña, there is always something to do. I love adding a little self-care twist by booking a hammam session or finding a quiet cafe to sit with my journal and a cup of tea.

Altea

If your idea of a perfect momcation involves slow mornings, quiet streets, and stunning sea views, Altea is calling your name. Its charming old town with whitewashed buildings feels like stepping into a postcard. It is peaceful, beautiful, and just the right pace when you want to escape the noise.

Don’t Forget About the Rest of Andalusia

While Seville made the list, Andalusia has plenty of other gems perfect for a momcation.

Córdoba is hands down one of my favourite cities in Spain. The history, the beauty, and the calm energy always make me want to stay longer. The Mezquita is stunning, but even walking through the narrow streets filled with colourful patios feels like a treat.

Málaga is another spot worth mentioning, with its beautiful coastline, lively restaurants, and plenty of places to sit, relax, and soak up the atmosphere.

Honestly, the list could go on but if you are planning your first momcation, starting with these five is a great way to ease into it.

How to Ease Your Mind While You Are Away

I know leaving home for a trip can come with a little guilt and a lot of overthinking. That’s why I always follow these steps before heading off. They help me enjoy my break knowing everything at home is under control:

1. Make sure my significant other is available.

Having my partner fully aware and present while I am away makes all the difference.

2. Line up a few trusted people to help if needed.

Whether it is a family member or a good friend, I always have a backup just in case.

3. Organise the house a week before the trip.

From preparing meals to laying out school clothes, I try to get as much done as possible before leaving.

4. Stay connected through video calls.

Even though I am away, a quick bedtime call or a morning check-in makes everyone feel better.

5. Leave a detailed schedule and emergency contacts.

It might feel a little extra, but it helps the household run smoothly and gives me peace of mind.

6. Plan small surprises for the kids.

Whether it’s a little note, a fun snack, or a surprise activity, these small gestures make the time apart feel more special for them too.

Taking a momcation is not about escaping your responsibilities forever, it’s about remembering that you matter too. Whether you want adventure, culture, or simply some quiet time to recharge, these destinations offer a little bit of everything.

So, where will your next momcation take you?
